Can you participate in the DERMA study?
Would you like to take part in the DERMA study? First, you need to check the following criteria to see if your particular situation allows you to participate in the study.
Inclusion criteria
The most important conditions for participating in DERMA are that:
- You have melanoma in stage 3B or 3C that has spread to the lymph nodes. Lymph node involvement must be of the type termed ‘macroscopic’ (check with your doctor)
- You have had, or will have, your cancer removed by an operation
- You agree to have a piece of your tumor tested for the presence of MAGE-A3. This antigen must be found in your cancer for you to enter the study
- You are at least 18 years old
- You freely volunteer to participate in this study
- You are not affected by other significant health problems (this will be checked by your doctor)
- In the view of the study doctor, you can and will comply with the requirements of the study protocol
- If you are a woman, you are not likely to have or planning to have a child during the treatment period. You must be willing to practice adequate contraception measures for the duration of the study treatment (and up to two months after completion of this treatment).
If you believe that you meet each of the above criteria, you may contact a hospital participating in the MAGRIT study. They will give you more details on the study and check that you are eligible. If you decide you want to participate they will ask you to sign an informed consent document confirming that you understand what is involved and freely volunteer to participate.
